EPDs
are to be prepared according to ISO 14025 and they declare environmental performance
of a product or service through implementation of LCA on the basis of
parameters described within the framework of ISO 14040 series for predefined
impact categories (raw material extraction, energy use and efficiency; material
and chemical substance content; emissions to air, water and soil; waste
formation). It is trade-oriented and takes into account the ecological
footprint of economic activities and various emission values that occur during
the production process within the scope of the life cycle assessment (LCA).
EPDs,
prepared independently with the information provided by the manufacturer,
consist of the technical description of the product, manufacturer details and LCA
results.

EPD
shows the calculation and reduction of the negative effects of a product or
service on the environment, human, health, climate and natural life in all
processes from the raw material procurement stage to the end of its life.

WHY IS EPD IMPORTANT?

INCREASING

order to put the CE mark on its products, the necessity of sustainable use of
resources in production is fulfilled with EPD.
· As a
result of ICA studies,which are the basis of EPD, the opportunity to develop
new policies is obtained by finding the opportunity to examine the processes in

supply chain.
