ISO 14064 GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

ISO 14064 is a set of standards proposed for use as a guide for consistent reporting of an organization's GHG emissions and removals, making inventories, GHG emission reduction or removal remediation projects, and verification and validation of GHG notifications. It is an equalization protocol. Issued by the International Standards Organization, it aims to voluntarily reduce greenhouse gases and has a neutral policy.

ISO 14064 enables organizations to systematically manage, reduce and continually improve these targets.

The basic principles of ISO 14064 are as follows:

- Suitability;

Selection of GHG sources, GHG sinks, GHG reservoirs, data and methodologies appropriate to the needs of the target user

- Completeness

It includes all relevant greenhouse gas emissions and removals.

- Consistency

It allows comparison of greenhouse gas information.

- Accuracy

Systematic errors and uncertainties are reduced as much as possible.

- Transparency

Adequate and appropriate information on GHG is disclosed to enable intended users to make decisions with confidence.

The standard’s four steps;

- Inventory limitations

- Measurement and quantification of Greenhouse Gases

- Reporting of Greenhouse Gases

- Verification of GHG Inventory Report
